No Extracurricular List
Please check the list regularly. Each name on this list should be tied to a corrective action plan. The file is inside of Staff Share / A-Lists & Maps.  The review date is also the expiration date.  If the student is keeping up with the plan, extracurricular activity attendance will be allowed. If not keeping up with their end of the bargain, the date will be expanded. The key to making this work is communicating with the student before any events. If you check the list, the students have been told.

As of today, we have 9th grade names on this list, given to us by the 9th grade team (thanks for that). We can help with others as this week progresses.

If a student who has been notified shows up to an event, the student should be reminded of their name being on the list. If a parent cannot pick up right away, the student can wait at the entrance.

Garden work day this Saturday
Would you like to help with the community garden? We're having a work day this Saturday morning starting at 10.  We'll be placing beds and spreading dirt.  I'll be advertising this to kids this week. Sounds like fun? Talk with Tim, and thanks.

June 2017 Regents Schedule

From CTS:
5 Chromebook carrying cases were recently replaced. Kids are using the carrying cases as book bags, which is overloading the cases causing rips and damaged zippers. Please remind students to use the the cases just for Chromebooks. I'll also mention in announcements.

Teacher-Student Roster Verification
From Kevin Webster:  The state web portal https://eservices.nysed.gov/taa/ is now open for verification of teacher student roster verification (TSDL).  This year, only 3-8 ELA and math instructors as well as teachers who teach a math course which lead to a regents exam need to verify.

Local workshops and My Learning Plan
We have started to input our local workshops into MLP.  The first tab in the PD sheet is now for MLP links. You can also get them by going to the district catalog in MLP.

I'm new to this and the help from MLP isn't easy, but I think we have it. I'll start entering older stuff soon.  I have added the 8/31 and 9/1 supt days. You can sign up for the old ones until 6/30.

Having all of our local workshops in MLP creates the electronic paper trail needed for your info to end up in your TEACH account.  Steve's office gets a report from MLP at the end of each year that is entered into the TEACH system.  If your events are in MLP, they'll end up in the report for TEACH, which is important if you're a relatively new teacher who needs to track hours.

PD Schedule for Tuesday
The PD schedule is nearly complete. Missy has been working on some personalized PD courses (some of you will see this in your row). She will explain this personally or in teams.

For anyone or any groups that will be doing one thing for the whole time, I'm starting to put those into separate areas of the sheet. Hopefully, that will make the sheet a bit easier to read.

Reading - Writing - Math Success Stories
I'd like to get a collection of success stories in reading, writing and math.  What's working for you? Have you tried a new strategy that's working well?  Please share those stories with me.  I want to share your successes with others. Thanks.

Last Friday's Speaker and Assembly Schedule
I heard positive feedback about our Scott Fitch presentation.  Thanks for any advice you can give to kids about using these tools responsibly.  It seemed like the slightly shortened schedule worked OK, although bells would be nice if we could ever figure that out.  Please give me some feedback on that. Thanks.

ASCD Webinar this Friday:  Making Academic Vocabulary Stick

Students at the Center
The new ASCD book by Bena Kallick and Allison Zmuda, explains educators can help students develop the intellectual and social strength of character necessary to live well in the world. The way to do this is increasing the say students have in their own learning and prepare them to navigate complexities they face both inside and beyond school. This book rethinks traditional teacher and student roles, goal setting, lesson planning, assessment, and feedback practices. It means establishing classrooms that prioritize
